Starting in 2014, the Italian Government has fostered the adoption of policies and regulations aimed at tackling any bottleneck limiting the rise of a healthy national startup ecosystem.

Huge cuts on red tape, robust tax breaks and new groundbreaking tools to promote investments (such as our pioneer regulations on equity crowdfunding), as well as public guarantees on bank loans and a tailor-made labour market discipline are among the majors pillars of Italian policy, which is designed as a new way of thinking about industrial policy-making.

In this framework, the Italian Trade Promotion Agency provides Italian startups with a more targeted support in the process of internationalisation, including assistance in legal, corporate and fiscal activities, as well as real estate and credit matters. In addition, innovative startups can benefit from free-of-charge participation to selected international fairs and events, as well as to international initiatives aimed at favouring the matching with potential investors. A “Startup service card” has been iussed, free of charge, to startup companies by the Agency, granting 30% reductions on the price of assistance services.
